COMMUNITY PARTNERS
Friends of the Calhoun County Library – The Friends of the
Calhoun County Library support library activities by providing
volunteers at events, conducting fundraisers, and in
coordinating book sales, which are held at the old West End
Branch library on Calhoun Road. Call the Library for information
about upcoming booksales or email The Friends at
foccl1@gmail.com. The Friends also publish a newsletter with information about how to join.
The Calhoun County Museum and Cultural Center – As part of the Museum's mission to support the arts and educate the public about our cultural heritage, the Museum provides financial and logistical support for library programs, such as summer reading events. The Library and Museum also offer joint programs in areas where archival information and library information services intersect, such as genealogy assistance and events about local authors.
First Steps of Calhoun County – Parent Educators affiliated
with the First Steps programs provide quality storytime programs
for toddlers at the library. Volunteers from First Steps also
help with summer reading and holiday programs.
Calhoun County Library Teen Advisory Board – The Library appreciates the expertise and experience of teens and their educators that is provided to help design programs that are fun and meaningful at the Library. If you would like to participate in this group, please call the Library.
Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College – A new, joint
library-college building is planned to open in 2009. This
facility will provide access to a greater variety of information
and skill development opportunities than are currently available to residents in
the county, including classroom and videoconferencing
facilities, workforce development activities and credentials,
and career related classes.
Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce – The Chamber provides financial support for library programs, such as summer reading events.
Calhoun County Public Schools – Storytime programs are
offered to Early Childhood Development programs in the County.
Library staff work with teachers and media specialists to select
and provide sufficient materials for K-12 patrons to complete
summer reading requirements. The Library also selects certain
materials to provide information that is not available in school
media centers.
